Drakina! De Wereld Van Kina, Ghent, Belgium.
After nearly a years worth of planning the Drakina! Dragons project, brain child of the inspirational Frank Gryffroy, happened over a busy week in April.
With the help of students from two art schools (Secundair Kunstinstituut and Kunsthumaniora Sint-Lucas) we spent the week studying the museums collections, then translating those discoveries into the construction of two life size dragon skeletons
The exhibition was finished in time for the grand opening (carried out by local officals, and the medieval King Charles.) And displayed the two finished dragons as well as students sculptural and graphic work and a short documentary by film maker Tim Edwards.
A project made possible with the help of Dragon Hall, De Wereld Van Kina, Shaping 24 and The City of Gent.

I've been working on a couple of design jobs for Dragon Hall recently. One is a double sided A3 activity sheet that folds into an A5 booklet, designed for Sarah Power, the education officer at the historic house and museum.
The other is the logo for the Dragon Hall Beer Festival this year, that features in the promotional material and will be etched on the pint glasses provided to every guest.

Over half term I have been running creative events on behalf of Culture Works East, now based in thier new location at OPEN, the youth venue in Norwich city centre.
The two day animation workshop produced some excellent short films. Once uploaded online I will embed them to the left.
I also took the fossil making workshop on the road to Flitcham in West Norfolk to run two sessions with the primary school aged kids, they loved it!

A Mischief of Mice now adorns the sign to Norwich's Mischief Pub after I recently won a competition to design a new image.
It was short listed to the final six from over 300 entries, and then singled out by EEN reporter David Bale.

I had a fantastic visit this month to "De wereld van kina" Childrens natural history museum in Gent, Belgium.
I'm looking forward to working with Belgian artist Frank Gryffroy, the Belgian museum staff and the Norwich Dragon Hall team in April.

Gorgeous! Well that's what I hope comedy lyrical duo The Tina Marinas will say once they see the new stage sign they've commissioned me to make.

To kick off the new year I've been running puppet making workshops with some great young people at the Thetford Ancient House Museum. as part of their Bronze art award.
The home schooled students each created a fantastically characterful rod puppet based on one of the many previous inhabitants of the museum building. they included Elizabeth Radcliffe, local character and inn keeper, Robert Browne tradesman turned politician and John Kemp Main a watchmaker.
Thanks to Melissa Hawker and the staff of Ancient House for running a great project and having me involved.
